Astrolapalma, jornadas profesionales STEM

The project ‘La Palma Smart Island’, under the Department of Digital Transformation of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, has organised this Thursday 25th of April the ‘Jornada de divulgación de Profesiones STEM’ held in El Teatro Circo de Marte, in Santa Cruz de La Palma.

Jornada de divulgación de Profesiones STEM’

This day is held with the aim of raising awareness and exploring STEM careers, those related to the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, with real life experiences, as well as offering direct learning and inspiring conversations about the opportunities and challenges of these professions.

The event was attended by different speakers related to STEM professions, including Ana García, CEO of AstroLaPalma (www.lapalmastars.com), and addressed issues such as the labour demand that companies are experiencing due to the lack of these professionals, among others.

During the presentation, Ana García talked about her previous professional career in basic research at the Armagh Observatory (UK) and at the University of Bristol, as well as her current stage related to outreach and astro-tourism, and what or who inspired her to dedicate herself to science.
