On Friday, November 15, the Casa de la Cultura in Tazacorte hosted a day workshop on light pollution aimed at raising awareness and educating participants about the adverse effects of excessive lighting on La Palma. Over 20 attendees explored the importance of preserving the island\u2019s night sky through expert-led discussions and practical experiences.<\/p>\n

The event featured notable speakers like Federico de la Paz <\/strong>\u00a0from the IAC<\/a>‘s Sky Protection Office and Susana Mal\u00f3n<\/strong>, CEO of Lum\u00ednica Ambiental<\/a>. They shared insights on challenges, consequences, and innovative strategies to combat light pollution. Alongside them, Ana Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, CEO of AstroLaPalma<\/a>, played an active role in discussions and hands-on activities.<\/p>\n

La Palma\u2019s commitment to sky protection draws global recognition, benefiting astronomy and astrotourism alike. Workshops like these emphasize the need for community involvement to maintain this unique natural and cultural resource.<\/p>\n
