A day visit to El Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory or stargazing in La Palma are probably the highlights on the island. Visits include an overview of the observatory and also entrance to one of the professional telescopes. Telescopes open for visits usually are the Gran Telescopio de Canarias, the William Herschel Telescope or Telescopio Nazionale Galileo.
Guided visits (mornings only) for the general public to the Observatory are allowed but limited as this is a research place. The cost of ticket for a visit is 9 EUR per person (for over 6 years old only). Booking well in advance is strongly recommended. Click here for more info and reservations.
In any case, please notice that tickets excludes transport and that visits depends on weather conditions and operational activities on the telescopes. No night visits allowed or stargazing on the premises.
If, however, rather than visiting the installations, what you are looking for is to stargaze in La Palma and watch with your own eyes an spectacular sky, you will need to book an astronomy tour. Please follow the link for info an reservations: here.
